Petrolia gets license to drill Haldimand oilfield well in Quebec

EBR Staff Writer Published 14 December 2011

Oil and gas explorer Petrolia has been granted a license by the Government of Quebec to drill a third well at the Haldimand oilfield in Quebec, Canada.

The horizontal well is located over an area of nine sq km, with recoverable resources estimated at nearly eight million barrels.

The well will target the sandstones of the York River formation and will not require any stimulation operations.

The company said that the horizontal trajectory of the well has been designed to intercept a network of natural fractures in the reservoir.

Petrolia owns interests in oil and gas licenses covering 14,000 sq km, which represents about 17% of the Quebec territory under lease.
